FRESHMAN CEREMONY
Naoki Irie is a new boy at school, being number one in his old middle school, Naoki finds himself speaking in front of the whole school on his first day. Being the speaker for the greeting speech is an honorable thing to have. Before the speech started, everyone gossiped about how the person giving the speech is "suppose to be really smart," being the "nationwide" top middle-school student for three years in a row. Naturally hearing this, Kotoko thought for a moment on what the new boy would look like: She imagined a guy with dark hair, semi-chunky, with glasses. To her surprises, Naoki was nothing to that sort. As soon as he walked into the room, she was struck with love. She realized he was so cool. She was impressed with the fact that he was able to deliver "complicated sentences" so smoothly. She claimed that she "fell in love at first sight." After realizing that he would be in class A due to the fact that her school sorted the students by ability, she was determined to work hard enough to get into his class.
The ceremony where Naoki Irie first spoke, the new student charms all of his new classmates. A freshman girl, Kotoko Aihara, falls madly in love with this new face. Click on the above link to find out more in-depth details.
THE LOVE NOTE
After Kotoko realizes that there is no other way to confess her love for Naoki due to their separate class schedules, she decides to write him a love note. Without considering their differences in class structure, intelligence levels, or friend groups, Kotoko runs up to him in the halls and says "Irie-kun... um, please... please accept..." Without being able to finish, Naoki tells her he doesn't want the letter, and walks away. She goes back to her friends, and cries about her rejection. However, shortly after she realizes that she already knew she would be rejected. She realizes that he must not be the guy she fell in
love with because he wouldn't even accept the letter at all. She realizes that she has a bad-taste in men, and decides to give up on him. As she is ready to walk home that day with her friends, Naoki and his best friend start walking the same way. Once Naoki spots Kotoko, he turns around and begins to walk away from her. A boy who is madly in love with Kotoko, Kinnosuke, starts screaming at Naoki for turning down Kotoko. He doesn't understand what is so bad with class F kids, and why class A kids think they can do whatever they want. Unfortunately, this just makes Kotoko look bad, and gets Naoki to say "I don't like stupid girls." Shocked, and hurt more, Kotoko is speechless, leaving her heart broken for falling for an asshole for two years.
After falling in love with the new boy at school, Kotoko realized that her love for him would go unnoticed unless she did something about it due to their separation during class. So, she writes him a love note. Click on the above link to find out more in-depth details.
THE DONATION
To make her luck worse, Kotoko loses her house that night to a size 2 earthquake. When she arrives at school the next day, her friend, Kin-chan, is having a fundraiser in the front of the school for her loss. Embarrassed, she runs over and tries to put a stop to his tactics. Naoki walks up and asks for them all to move and let him through to get into the school. Kin-chan decides to blame the earthquake and the destruction of Kotoko's house on Naoki because of the mean things he said the day before. Naoki offers to give money to the fund, which irritates Kotoko. She slaps the money out of his hands and says that she does not want his pity. She says that she wasted two years of her life having feelings for him, and that she doesn't want his blessing, even if it kills her. He laughs and asks her if she really wants to say something like that. He walks away, leaving Kotoko extremely flustered.
After being hurt by Naoki, Kotoko's house falls down in a level 2 Earthquake. Outside of school, Kin-chan is back in action, asking for donations to help out his love, Kotoko. When Naoki walks by, Kin-chan sure has something to say. Click above to find out more in-depth details.
THE NEW HOUSE
After her fight with Naoki, Kotoko goes with her father to their new house with his school-friend, the Irie's. Once Kotoko gets to the door and sees the sign, she freaks out. After seeing the man at the door, she is confident that it must just be a coincidence because the father looks nothing like Naoki. Unfortunately for her, it is the house of her crush. She ends up staying with the Irie family, feeling extremely uncomfortable by both Naoki and Yuuki, the younger brother, she feels like she has come to the wrong home. Naoki's mother asks Naoki to help Kotoko unpack in her new room. However, Naoki reminds Kotoko that he does not need to "take care of her," as she once put it earlier that day. He warns her to not cramp his style and to stay out of his life. The next morning, Naoki tells Kotoko not to tell anyone about their living arrangements. He wants it to be a secret, otherwise it will ruin his reputation at the school. He reminds her that she is a burden and it is of no concern to him what she does. Naoki doesn't even hold the subway door open a few seconds longer for Kotoko to make the train. His intentions are certain - he does not want to be around Kotoko.
Knowing that Kotoko and her father cant stay in a hotel forever, Kotoko moves into her fathers old friends home - The Irie family. Could it be the same Irie family as Naoki? Click the above link and find out more in-depth information.
THE DEAL
Kotoko found out a little secret from Naoki's mother - she used to dress him up as a girl through out his childhood. His mother predicts that this is why Naoki has grown up extremely cold. Kotoko takes one of the pictures out of the photo album to keep for blackmailing purposes later. When Naoki calls Kotoko out of her classroom in order to change lunches with her (it had seemed as if his mother switched them on purpose), he reminds her again that this is why she is a burden and shouldn't live at his home. Kotoko giggles and says she's sorry, hoping that he wont accidentally wear her uniform next time as well. Unsure of her humor, Kotoko shoves the picture of Naoki as a girl in his face. Getting irritated, he tries grabbing it out of her hands. He promises her that he will tutor her in school work if she promises to give him the photo back by the end of the week. The reason Kotoko wants to be tutored is because she wants her name on the top 50 (Top 100 in the manga) board, along with Naoki's name. There has never been a Class F person on the top 50 board, and she was determined to be the first one. The deal begins that night, as Kotoko and Naoki study together. She finds out that he never studies at night-time, where he tells her that he can read something once and memorize it completely. He makes up a list of questions for Kotoko to practice, going through them one-by-one from the beginning lessons because it is clear she wont be able to do them on her own.
Naoki's mother continuously comes in, taking photos, telling them that they'd be a cute couple and should get married. On the final night of studying, Kotoko looks over and sees Naoki fast asleep on the table. She realizes once again why she liked this cold-hearted jerk, and falls asleep on the table next to him. In the morning, Naoki's mother gives Kotoko a "good-luck" charm, which she puts in her backpack because she is instructed not to look at it until after the exam is over. Kotoko is about to miss the subway when Naoki holds the door open for
her this time. Although she is instructed never to speak to him during school, she runs past him saying "Thank you," as he looks at her and says "good-luck!" Shockingly, Kotoko made it as the 50th person in the top 50 of her school. Naoki, who normally never goes to look at the score board, looks and sees that she made, and smiles to himself. She runs up to him, excitedly, as he puts his hand out. Kotoko thinks he is trying to shake her hand but he is actually just looking for the embarrassing photo of him back. She hands it over, and he walks away from her. When she goes back into the classroom, she drops the "good luck" charm on the ground. She opens it up in front of all of her friends and finds photos of her and Naoki sleeping next to each other on the table. A rumor natural goes around the school afterwards thanks to Kin-chan, who is jealous of the love match he now has.
Once Kotoko receives some good photos of Naoki's childhood, she decides to blackmail him for a little extra help in school. They strike up a deal, and get straight to work. Click the above link to read more in-depth information on what happens.
THE BATON RACE
Kotoko cries herself to sleep realizing that she was turned down, holding the note in her hand. Naoki comes in her room to let her know that the shower is ready, as he realizes she is fast asleep. He picks up the letter laying next to her hand, and finally reads her confession letter. The next morning, the whole family packs up for the "Game-day" fun at the school. Kotoko races in the girls race first, and picks up a card on a table that says the item she must run the rest of the race with. She picks up the card, "the one you love." She walks over to where Naoki is sitting. She chickens out and asks his father to run the race with her. Unfortunately, due to this, she comes in last place. Naoki's mother asks her what she was suppose to look for in her card after the race was over, as Naoki's father says "The person you love," getting all red. Kotoko asks Naoki to try his best during the anchor race that she is also participating in, because she doesn't want to see him lose another race. He takes on her encouragement and promises not to lose.
At the beginning of the race, Class F was in the lead. Once it got to Kotoko, she was running extremely fast. In her mind, she kept thinking about Naoki as she ran towards the next group. She was suppose to hand it over to Kin-chan, but instead she was imagining Naoki and her running into each others arms. When she snaps out of it, its too late, and he is telling her to go away. She runs into Kin-chan and falls on the ground, losing time for her team. Class C is now in the lead, as Kin-chan runs quickly to catch up. Once Naoki gets the baton, he ends up getting first place. However, someone pushed Kotoko to the ground in front of the finish line, so Naoki falls on top of her. He asks her why she is being stupid and sleeping right there. He realizes that she isn't coherent, and he picks her up on his back in front of everyone and carries her to the nurses office, saying "Sheesh do I have to keep taking care of you?" At the end of the day, Naoki recites Kotoko's love note out loud to the whole family after she tried to deny wanting to marry him. Before he could get to the "i love you," part, Kotoko smacks him across the face out of embarrassment. When Kin-chan barges through the door to say that marriage is out of the question, Naoki says that "peoples feelings can change - you make hate them one day but come to love them the next." This shocks Kotoko, and makes her feelings come back to him fully.
Kotoko's feelings are not back in full as she finds herself with Naoki more than usually. Naoki realizes he does have to take care of her, but how long will this go on? For more information click the link above.
SUMMER VACATION
On the first day of summer, Naoki completes his summer assignments to get them out of the way. Of course, Kotoko says she is going to save them for the last two days of summer vacation. Naoki and Kotoko both get up early anyways to go to the school - but for different reasons. Naoki goes to practice tennis, and Kotoko goes for extra help in school before the finals. One day, Kotoko goes to the pool with her friends. After over-hearing this, Naoki's mother persuades Yuuki and Naoki to go to the pool as well together so that Naoki can see Kotoko in her bathing suit. However, Yuuki almost drowns as Naoki goes to get him ice cream. When Naoki runs back, he sees that Kotoko has saved him and takes him on a water-slide with her. As she goes down, her leg cramps up. She starts to drown under the water, but Naoki grabs her by the arm and pulls her out of the water.
He massages her foot and her leg to make sure that her cramping goes away. She thinks to herself how gentle he is being with her, reminding herself even more as to why she loves him. She thanks him and he tells her he was repaying the favor for her saving his little brother earlier that day. When they go home, everyone in the house will be gone the night besides for Kotoko and Naoki. They cook dinner together and eat a nice meal (that Naoki has to make because Kotoko can't cook to save her life). Afterwards, Kotoko goes to start her homework. Realizing it is impossible, she sneaks into Naoki's room to find his homework. After finding it, he grabs her and pulls her down on his bed, quoting Kin-kun from earlier when he said that "geniuses can get wild too." She tells him she wants to have a "wholesome" relationship first, as he laughs. To apologize for the teasing, he lets her copy his homework and stays up with her to do so. As he helps her, he starts to wonder why hes thinking of her so much.
School is finally out, making Kotoko extremely happy to enjoy her summer break! She almost dies, and feels like she is just being teased by her lover. To find out more information click the link above.
BAD LUCK
When Naoki got his fortune in the beginning of the year, it said that his luck was going to be disastrous. On the day of his Center Exams, he begins to feel a little bit sick. Kotoko, trying to help, runs to get him some medicine. Unfortunately, she doesn't read the label to make sure it was the non-drowsy kind. In a panic, Kotoko tells him to throw it up, but it's too late. During the exam, Naoki starts seeing double. To make it even more embarrassing, Kotoko drew herself on his exam slip saying "Goodluck!" Kotoko prays to the Gods that Naoki will do fine on the exam and apologizes for giving him the wrong medication. Being the genius that he is, he still makes it with the best scores out of everyone else. Kotoko and Naoki's mother make Valentine's Day chocolates together to give to Naoki on the 14th of February. Unfortunately, she has trouble finding him throughout the day to give him the chocolates. After she starts to feel sick, she decides not to give him the chocolate in case of them being contaminated. Mr.Irie wants his son to go to Tokyo University like he did as a kid, but Naoki has been very reluctant on going there. Kotoko says that she will go with Naoki to the exam to watch him enter it with her own eyes so he doesn't run away. She puts a good-luck charm on his brief case that she made especially for him, and they start heading out to the exam together. Kotoko's stomach starts to hurt really bad when they get onto the subway. Afterwards, Naoki's briefcase gets stuck in the door from the good-luck charm that Kotoko put on it. When they finally get it off, they must run off the train to make the stop. After they get to the exam, Kotoko starts to walk away when she collapses to the ground. Naoki hears a girl ask "Are you okay?!" as he runs out to see if Kotoko is okay. She passes out on the ground, turning a shade of blue. He carries her to the nearest hospital, as she mumbles about his exam as she is unconscious. Kotoko has appendicitis, and has been in a lot of pain for a long time. Naoki skipped the entrance exam and went to get food down in the lobby while waiting for Kotoko to wake up. Kotoko starts to cry and blames herself for being such a bother to Naoki. Later that night, she leaves a note on the door that says she has left the house to live somewhere else. Naoki opens up his window as she is outside. He says that it wasn't her fault at all, and that if he wanted to take the exam he still had time to make it, he chose not to go. He implies the he does not want her to go by saying "Somehow recently, having you around has made life more interesting and exciting," saying that he wants to just go through the escalator system (aka the school where Kotoko will be going). Kotoko gets excited hearing that he wants to be with her, and he tells her not to stress the fact, and that he doesn't "hate" her.
Naoki gets a fortune in the beginning of the year that he will have a year full of bad luck. Is it because of Kotoko, or is she really saving him from a life he doesn't want to live? Click the link above for more in-depth details and information.
A...KISS?
After graduation, class F and class A accidentally find themselves partying at the same location. However, Class is is clearly being treated better. Kin-Chan gets on stage in front of everyone and starts to sing a song of love to Kotoko, embarrassing her and everyone else around them. The Class A teacher goes over to Kotoko and says that it is her fault that a Class A student was unable to that the entry exam to Tokyo University. Naoki walks over and says its even more embarrassing for him to have the title of skipping an exam for Kotoko, and that he did it on his own. He continues to embarrass Kotoko in front of everyone there, reminding everyone about her love letter and laughing at her. He calls her names like "idiot" and "stupid," making her feel terrible about herself. He reminds everyone that she is in love with a "Cold-hearted bully." To get back at Naoki for his bullying, she flashes a photo of him as a child in front of everyone (which means he is wearing girl clothing). He drags her out into the ally-way, telling her that she sure throws some punches. She explains that she is just returning the favor, making everyone laugh at him like he was making everyone laugh at her feelings for him. She tells him she was going to let go of her feelings for him with the graduation, move onto college and find a new life and lover. He doesn't even let her speak, mumbles to himself, "then go ahead and try," as he kisses her against the wall, leaving her shocked.
Kotoko feels like she has had enough of the tormenting from Naoki, so she tells him she is done loving him. But will he stand for that? Click the link above to find out more in-depth details.
THE BOAT RIDE
Kotoko asks Naoki on a date with her on the upcoming Sunday to see a movie, but he of course says that he isn't interested in seeing it. Kotoko ends up going to the movie by herself because her two best friends end up unable to go. When she is in line, she looks up and sees Naoki with another college classmate Yuuko Matsumoto. The tennis couch, Senpai, is also madly in love with Yuuko, so Kotoko and Senpai team up and follow them around on their date to make it horrible. Every time Yuuko tries to make a move on Naoki, Kotoko would drop something in between them, or Senpai would put his hand down where she thought Naoki's hand was. After the movie, they follow them on their date to get some lunch, and once more to watch them pick up a new Tennis racket for Yuuko. Finally, Kotoko says she is going home and giving up on them, saying she can't stop who "Irie-kun" loves. As she turns away, she bumps into an old guy who then spills his drink all over his shirt.
After some yelling, he tries to get Kotoko to pay him 100,000 yen in return for the dry-cleaning costs. Naoki comes over and intervenes, telling him that he probably got his shirt from the clarence rack in the store. He tells Senpai to take over on the date with Yuuko, and goes away with Kotoko. Kotoko apologizes for following Naoki around on his date, asking if he knew she was there. He tells her that he knew she was there the whole time. He asks Kotoko what she wants to do for the rest of the day, and she says she wants to go on the boats. Naoki rows the boat as they have a nice day out on the water. Naoki reminds Kotoko that this is the lake where couples break up if they row on the boats together. She stands up suddenly, and the boat tips over because she wasn't thinking. After, they lay in the grass together as Naoki hands her a shirt he bought from a nearby store so she can dry off. He tells her that she is the first "trial that has been presented to [him]." He says that originally he wanted to run away from her, but then he realized that life was more interesting with the trial. She asks him if he has changed his mind about the proposal, and he just says that its "not so bad living in the same house," as Kotoko. She tells him once again that she loves him, points out all of her flaws, and then tells him she is determined to work hard to be with him. He tells her he "can't wait," loving the idea that she is trying to be a talented woman for him.
After seeing Naoki on a date with another woman, Kotoko finds herself following them around with her Tennis Coach. However, will Naoki notice her and leave the date? Click on the link above and find out more in-depth information.
SAVIORS
Kotoko's father feels as if they have over stayed their welcome, so he decides that it is best for them to move out. Sadly, Naoki doesn't say much to Kotoko as she leaves. As she casually walks past the former home, she hears someone scream from inside the house. As she rushes in, she see Yuuki laying on the ground in pain. In a panic, she calls Naoki and asks him what to do. After following his instructions, she rushes Yuuki to the hospital where she has to decide whether or not Yuuki goes into surgery. She signs for him to get the surgery because she believes it's the only thing that will save Yuuki's life and from the immediate pain. Once Naoki comes, he can sense the pain in Kotoko's eyes as she leaves the hospital room to call her father and let him know where she has been. Naoki calls out for her as she realizes that she forgot her phone and her purse, commenting on how she is very absent-minded.
Naoki rushes over to her and puts his arm around her head and pulls her back against him, thanking her for saving his brother for the second time. She flings around and hugs him properly, as he puts his arms around her. She tells him that she was really scared as he comforted her with an "it's alright now." Kotoko felt relieved hearing the kind words come out of Naoki's mouth towards her. She stayed in his arms until she couldn't cry any longer.
After Yuuki spent some time at the hospital, Naoki and Kotoko met a nice young boy named Non-chan that was very ill. Non told them that he spent most of his young life in and out of the hospital because the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. Kotoko told Naoki that he should grow up to be a doctor and save Non-chan and all of the other children from being sick so that they could have a life and do things that they want to do as well. Kotoko moves back into the Irie house and everyone seemed a lot happier after that.
After Kotoko moves out of the house, she still finds a way to save Naoki's little brothers life. He actually shows some appreciation this time. She also wants him to become a doctor. Click the link above to find out more information.
SPRING BREAK
Kotoko finds out where Naoki is working over spring break, and her, Yuuko, Yuuko's younger sister, and Yuuki all go down to visit him and hangout over the break. Kotoko was excited because she thought that she'd be getting to spend the weekend with Naoki, however, they barely had any type of alone time together. Senpai and Kotoko come up with a plan to get them both alone time with the people they like. However, Naoki catches on and rips up the sheet of paper that would cheat to make them be alone and said they would do it the fair way by playing rock paper scissors for partners. The game was to see which pair out of three pairs could leave and walk through the woods and get back in time. However, Kotoko ends up paired with Yuuki, and Naoki is paired up with Yuuko's little sister who is also madly in love with his charm. Before the game starts, Kotoko has a "dream" that Naoki comes over to her against a tree and kisses her and then leaves. She wakes up screaming "second time!!" (because it would be their second kiss), and she looks around but doesn't see Naoki anywhere. He also tells her that he loves her in the dream as well.
As everyone is out and about on their walk, Naoki notices that Kotoko's hat is on the ground, but she is nowhere to be found. He rushes back to the house and asks everyone if they've seen Kotoko or Yuuki at all. Everyone is shocked because they were the first to leaves so they should have been the first to return. However, Kotoko and Yuuki get lost in the woods. A wild old dog comes and tries to attack them, but thankfully the dog that was walking with Naoki comes and saves them. He asks them if they are alright, and once he finds out they are, they go back to the cabin. The weekend wasn't too ill spent because she had a "dream" that Naoki had kissed her. However, she wishes they had more time to be alone
Kotoko thinks she will have a spring-break vacation alone with Naoki, but nothing ever turns out the way its planned. Click the link above to read what happens more in-depth during the college spring-break!
ARRANGED... WHAT?
After Mr.Irie has a heart attack due to the loads of stress that the company puts on him and after hearing that Naoki wont be taking over the family business, Naoki has a lot of thinking to do. He blames the heart attack on himself. He tells Kotoko that he must take over the family business to make his dad happy. Kotoko becomes outraged because Naoki has studied his heart out to follow his dream of becoming a doctor. Kotoko throws her arms around him from behind because he looked "lonely," and she did it without any prior thoughts. He didn't move her arms away from him, however. After some though, Naoki said he'd look after the business for awhile so his father could get some rest to get better. One of the people in his fathers company told him that there was a possibility of an arranged marriage with a big bank company owner's grand daughter, and asked him if he'd be interested in meeting her. Over hearing this, Kotoko was shocked as Naoki said he would be interested in meeting the girl.
Kotoko and Yuuko both went together in disguise to watch him meet the girl, Chris Robbinson. She was an American girl with short blonde hair. They watched Naoki flirt with her and treat her very kindly. When Naoki came home, he asked Yuuki where Kotoko was, as he told his brother that she was out on a date. She had decided to move on from Naoki and try to date Kin-Kun, who had loved Kotoko fro five years. Naoki seemed annoyed at this fact, and tried to shoot down guys who would willingly go on a date with Kotoko. As he went on his date with Chris, he saw a man snoring during the Orchestra Concert. He started to laugh out loud, imagining Kotoko snoring during the concert with him in public.
Kotoko and Kin-chan bumped into Naoki and Chris on the street. Kotoko looked like she was going to die as she quickly excused herself and Kinnosuke from the conversation and kept walking. Kinnosuke asks Kotoko to marry him, telling her to give up on Naoki completely, saying that he will always make her happy. Yuuki goes into Naoki's room one night and asks him if he really is going to marry Chris. Naoki tells Yuuki that he must be happy because he's always wanted to have a pretty sister. However, Yuuki can tell that Naoki is lying about his feelings, and is doing it simply to help his fathers company out. Yuuki then has a flash back of the time during spring break when Naoki actually DID kiss Kotoko, proving that Naoki must love Kotoko and not Chris.
Naoki comes to practice for the first time in forever, and Kotoko is no longer there. He talks to Yuuko about the arranged marriage. She tells him that she doesn't like Chris, explaining that she'd rather have "Aihara-san clinging" to him then a boring girl with nothing to pick at. When Kotoko's best friends show up and tell Naoki and Yuuko that Kotoko ditched practice to meet up with Kin-chan, who proposed to her, Naoki runs away out of rage to go find Kotoko. Kin-chan and Kotoko got in a fight because she realized that she couldn't marry him and that she was going to be single forever because she was madly in love with Naoki. As she walks all the way home in the rain, she looks up and sees Naoki standing with an umbrella, waiting for her. He asks her about her proposal with Kinnosuke, and she tells him its none of his business and to worry about Chris and not her anymore. He asks her if she loves Kinnosuke and she says that she does because he's loved her for 5 years. Naoki gets angry, and tells her that she wont be able to love any other man but him. She admits it but she says she can't do anything about it anymore since he doesn't love her back. He grabs her and kisses her, telling her never to tell him she loves any other guy again. She tells him that it's the second time that they've kissed. He says "it's the third... but you don't have to count anymore," as they run home.

THE PROPOSAL
After the get home, Naoki runs down the stairs holding onto Kotoko's hand tightly. He tells Mr.Aihara that he needs to speak with him right away. He asks him for his blessings to marry Kotoko, saying that he finally knew that he wanted to marry Kotoko. Mr.Aihara reminds him that Kotoko can't cook, isn't bright, isn't smart, and cannot do anything right, but also reminds everyone that she has a big heart, is hard-working, determined, and adorable. He gives his blessings, and everyone gets extremely excited. Naoki says that he doesn't want the wedding to be right away, but in a few years after the graduate from college together. He says he can't imagine a life without Kotoko by his side. Later that night, Kotoko grabs Naoki before he can go into his room. She tells him that she loves him so much and always have. He smiles at her and says he knew it. She tells him she was shocked because she never knew that he felt the same way about her. He smiles big, and pulls her in, telling her that she made him fall for her. He tells her he loves her too, and they spend a few moments hugging together in the dark hallway.

THE WEDDING
Two weeks after the proposal, Mrs.Irie already decided that it was time to get married because she booked the wedding place. A little irritated, Naoki gets dragged into getting married so quickly. She said she had to do it quickly so he couldn't change his mind about the wedding and marrying Kotoko. Kotoko looked beautiful in her white wedding gown. As Kotoko walked down the isle, Naoki's jaw dropped at her beauty. Kotoko asked Naoki if he was angry, and he said he was just irritated that it was pushed forward without his consent. "But since you're so beautiful, I don't care anymore," was his reply after he said he was angry. (AKA the cutest thing in the world) Of course, Kotoko missed her cue to say "Yes, I do." and had to be woken up from her little fantasies in her head to respond, but other than that, the wedding was beautiful. Kotoko was the one who jumped up and kissed Naoki first, saying "Serves you right," back, poking fun of the first time that Naoki kissed Kotoko surprisingly. She attacked him because he had loved her for a long time, and was crazy about her too.
Two weeks after his proposal, they get married. How fast can momma Irie plan a wedding? Apparently too quickly. Click the above link to find out more details about the wedding.
THE HONEYMOON
Kotoko was very excited about going to Hawaii with Naoki on their honeymoon to finally get some well-deserved alone time. However, a big-boobed blonde haired girl who was also there for her honeymoon fell in love with Naoki at first sight, trying to get at him through out the whole trip. The two love birds did not get to spend one night fully alone with each other. No matter what they did, the other couple would soon find their way into their relationship. On the final night, Kotoko asks Naoki to spend the final night with her alone. When the couple came downstairs and asked them if they wanted to hangout, they turned down the offer. The young woman's husband ran into Kotoko and Naoki's room, saying that his wife was in trouble because they new Naoki was training to be a doctor. When he went into the room, the woman was laying on the bed in "pain." Naoki was touching her stomach and she put her hands on top of his. Angry at how the whole trip went down, Kotoko screamed out "NO! Stop touching other woman!" Naoki was angry at her outburst, saying that she married a man who was in-training to be a doctor and that she had to stop being so jealous all of the time. Kotoko ran out of the room, as the husband went to go get medicine. When it was just Naoki and the women in the room, she said she was happy they were finally all alone to have some "fun." He told her that even if he wasn't married, he wouldn't give her the time of day, and the fact that he is married proves that she doesn't even come close to comparing with Kotoko. He leaves the room and tries to go find Kotoko. Meanwhile, Kotoko is lost in downtown Hawaii. Unable to speaking English very well, she has no idea where anything is. When she runs into a big man, she thinks he is trying to molest her when in fact he is a cop and was asking if she was lost. Naoki comes and finds her, and they go to the beach. She apologizes for her jealousy and he tells her its okay because she was just worried. He kisses her passionately. He tells her it is no longer okay anymore for them not to have any alone time, and they go back to their room and make love for the first time. NAOKI FEELS JEALOUSY
The other nurses that Kotoko is friends with are all interested in meeting Naoki, even though they all know that Kotoko is married to him. She arranges a mixer for them to meet him and his other doctor friends. Kotoko sits next to a boy in her class named Keita who talks to her as she is drinking away from her husband. He tells Kotoko that she is too easygoing for letting other girls flirt with her husband right in front of her eyes. He tells her that he can not respect her because she is only becoming a nurse for her husband and not because she wants to. After yelling back and telling him that she will perfect all of the techniques, she passes out on the table. When Naoki comes over to take her home, Keita steps up and tells him that if he has time to flirt with other girls, he should probably look after his wife's needs a little bit more. Naoki feels the threatening mood, and tells him that it's none of his business whether he takes care of Kotoko's needs or not. After Keita finds out that Kotoko really comes in every morning to practice by herself, he decides to go in early the next morning to help her out.
Naoki finds it harder and harder to be around Kotoko after his encounter with Keita and the fact that he keeps seeing Kotoko with him. When Naoki hears that Kotoko and Keita will be partners again in their class, he gets up from the lunch table and leaves. Keita is very sincere towards Kotoko, shown by the fact that he lets her practice drawing blood from his arm, and she isn't good at anything they do in the nursing training. When Keita and Kotoko went to drop off the blood to Naoki, he didn't congratulate her, instead he insulted her for taking too long. Keita took offense to this because he was treating her so badly. When Kotoko passed out during the observation of organ removals, Keita rushed her to the nurses office. As he looked at her, he started to lean down to kiss her as Naoki walked in and told him never to think about laying a hand on someone else's wife, and that he can watch her from here.
Before Kotoko wakes up, Naoki must leave to go help out the instructor. When Kotoko wakes up, she doesn't even realize that Naoki was even there for her at all. When Kotoko goes back to find her friends, Keita offers to walk her back home since she is feeling dizzy. By the time Naoki comes back into the nurses office, she is long gone. When her Mrs.Irie comes up, she takes Kotoko home the rest of the way. At home, she pokes fun at Naoki for not walking Kotoko home or caring about her. He says that Kotoko is not going to become a nurse if she faints of the littlest things. The next day, Kotoko asks Naoki if it is okay for her to go out drinking. He yells at her in front of everyone at the school to decide things for herself and that he doesn't need to know every thing she does. Keita tells Kotoko later that night that he doesn't think that Naoki loves her at all. She starts to believe him, questioning why Naoki even married her in the first place. Keita asks Kotoko to break up with Naoki and to never go back to him.
Kinnosuke and Naoki have a talk one night about Kotoko, and he explains the him that the reason he gets irritated every time he looks at Kotoko is simply because he is jealous of Keita and Kotoko's relationship. He says that even a genius doesn't know everything, and that he is sure of it because it was Naoki who made him feel that way for five years. Unfortunately, he does not take this knowledge to heart. Kotoko asks Naoki to go out the following Sunday on a date, and he turns her down. She gets angry and starts throwing books at him, telling him that this is not how a marriage is suppose to be. She lets him know that Keita has told her that it is apparent that Naoki doesn't love her and that she agrees with him now. She said she has had enough of the one-sided love, and runs out to stay at her friends house. However, the next day in school, Keita once again tries to influence Kotoko into moving in with him, saying that Naoki doesn't care about Keita's presence in Kotoko's life. Naoki appears, saying that he is wrong. Naoki admits his jealousy and says that he needs Kotoko in his life to feel real and be who he really is. He tells Kotoko he is fully prepared to have her in his life and by his side. Keita is fully out of the picture after this.

KOTOKO'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Kotoko tells Naoki that for this year, she would like to do something special for her birthday with only the two of them. He asks her what she would like, and she describe her perfect day: getting dressed up, having a bouquet of roses for each year of her life, toast with champagne and eat dinner, have a big birthday cake, and then spending the night alone together. After a day at work, Kotoko forgets her cellphone at the Nurses Office and goes to get her hair done professionally for her date. She is very displeased with her look, believing that it isn't truly a hair style. Unfortunately, she witnesses an accident, and as a nurse, she feels compelled to stop and help.
The amount of time it takes for an ambulance to get there is too long, making her panic. She gets into a taxi and the traffic is terrible. She decides to get out of the taxi and run all the way to the hotel. She falls hard on the pavement on her way to the hotel, hurting herself a little bit. She is determined to get there, however, so she gets back up and runs. She is unable to call Naoki because she had forgotten her phone at work earlier that day. Once she arrives, she looks terrible. Naoki walks over and puts his arms on top of her head, telling her that she had scared him with the blood all over her -
glad that it wasn't her blood. They went upstairs to their room instead of eating dinner in the hotel restaurant to enjoy their time together there. Once they get up to the room, Mrs.Irie put up a happy birthday sign for Kotoko. Kotoko counts each rose and smiles with joy. She feels very happy that she gets to spend the time alone with Naoki on her birthday. Naoki asks Kotoko what she wants for her birthday and she tells him she wants to hear him say I love you, but soon takes it back and says she wants to think of a different present. He leans down and starts kissing her, afterwards telling her that he loves her. They throw their arms around each other in a tight embrace, making love. After it's over, Naoki looks at a box that he had for her, but Kotoko was fast asleep on the bed. Naoki opens the box and puts a ring on Kotoko's finger.

Naoki feels really badly because he started to realize that she was hiding the pain for awhile just so she didn't have to worry while he was busy at work. He states that he feels like he has failed Kotoko as a husband. Yuuki tells Naoki that he has changed into a person who is no longer always composed, but that he is better that way. Naoki goes back into Kotoko's hospital room and apologizes to her for not noticing her health. She tells him that she heard him calling for her when she was being rushed into the hospital and that it was very reassuring for her knowing that he was there for her. Naoki and Kotoko go to a few baby classes to prep for what life will be like with a baby. Naoki is very good at all of the exercises and proves that he is going to be a good father. A few weeks later, Kotoko goes back into the hospital because the baby should be coming out soon. As she goes in, so does one of their old friends, Yuuko, who is suffering very badly and in need of emergency care and surgery. Kotoko tells Naoki to stay with Yuuko and that if the baby comes out while hes in surgery, she will be fighting with Mrs.Irie and will stay strong as long as he does as well. Kotoko goes into labor while Naoki is working on Yuuko. Right after the surgery is successfully finished, he runs to go see Kotoko. The baby is already out and is in perfect health as well.
