TRIVIA
● In Pokemon Channel, the Shop 'N Squirtle channel is hosted by a member of the Squirtle Squad (named Spencer the Squirtle). The anime special, Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, in which the Squirtle Squad appear, is also included in the game.● The Squirtle Squad's leader is referenced in Pokemon Yellow, when an Officer Jenny tells the player she has caught a Squirtle that was constantly getting into mischief. She mentions it needs a good Trainer to take care of it, and will give it to the player after he/she defeats Lt. Surge.
● All members of the Squirtle Squad appear to have heads that are a slightly different shape from all other Squirtle, and of course each other.
● Between them, Ash, May and Gary own the entire Squirtle line (Ash has Squirtle, May has Wartortle, and Gary has Blastoise).
● Ash originally wanted Squirtle as his starter Pokemon, while Gary was the one who took it.
● Squirtle is the only member of Ash's original team of six (Pikachu, Butterfree, Pidgeot, Bulbasaur, Charizard, and itself) that has neither evolved nor ever explicitly refused to evolve.
● Squirtle is the first of Ash's Pokemon to have been placed in a Poke Ball off-screen, the other being Lapras.
● Squirtle is the only Pokemon that Ash has possessed for longer than one season that has never resided at Professor Oak's Laboratory.
● Niue released a one-dollar coin featuring Squirtle as part of a commemorative promotion for the Pokemon franchise, with Squirtle on one side and the nation's coat of arms on the other.
● As a species, Squirtle has been trained most frequently of all the Kanto starter Pokemon by major anime Trainers, with Ash, May, and Gary each owning one.
